Ask your question in full sentences. Company Brain answers with the matching passages from your documents and names the sources – one click and you read the original.
Answers you can check
Under every answer it says whether the figures, amounts and dates mentioned really appear in the sources. The language model does not calculate by itself: if a total is missing, it lists the individual values and says so openly. If something is not in your documents, it says that too.

“What did we spend on cleaning this year?” – Company Brain filters, counts and totals invoices by date, amount, sender and type.

As an app on the phone: speak your question, listen to the answer. Speech recognition can run in your own house.

Employees sign in with their Microsoft company account or with a passkey. Users and groups are taken over.

Locking a document is not enough: a link, a search hit or an AI answer can also reveal that something exists. Company Brain is built so that none of these paths reveals anything the person asking may not see – and this is checked automatically with every new version.

- Triple protection
Every query is checked three times, independently of each other. If one check fails, the others still apply. When in doubt, Company Brain shows nothing.
- Checked with every version
With every change, more than 1,600 automated tests run. Some of them check, on a sample company, for every person and every access path, that nobody sees what is not theirs. To check the tests themselves, we deliberately build in errors – the tests must find them. This is a test method, not a certification and not a guarantee.
- Confidential areas only to an in-house AI
You decide which areas may never go to a cloud language model. Their content is processed only by a model running in your own network.
- AI assistants on a short leash
Connected assistants read only what the signed-in person may see. Each access can be revoked individually, and whatever an AI wants to change waits for approval.
- Widening permissions takes two people
Restricting is immediate. Anyone who wants to widen permissions needs the consent of a second person. Every change is logged.
- Secure sign-in
Company account, passkeys and two-factor sign-in for administrators. When a company account is blocked, access to Company Brain ends as well.
- Isolated operation
The database runs in a network without internet access. Backups are encrypted, and a self-test checks the instance after every update.
- Your data stays your data
The knowledge exists as simple text files that belong to you – readable with any editor, with no dependence on a closed format.
Privacy
Privacy built in
Company Brain is subject to works council co-determination – and built so that the works agreement becomes simple.
- Its own instance for your company
No database shared with other customers. We operate the instance on servers in Germany or in your own data centre.
- Questions are not stored
Company Brain does not store questions and answers on the server; the conversation history stays in the browser of the person asking. If you use a cloud language model, its terms on retention and processing apply in addition – we tell you the provider, region and legal basis beforehand.
- No secret monitoring
A read log exists only if you want it through a works agreement: off by default, pseudonymous, time-limited and only for the areas where it is needed.
- Evaluation only with four eyes
The administration can evaluate logs only together with a review group, such as the works council. Employees can see where logging takes place, and their own history.
- Voice stays in house
Spoken questions can be recognised on your own server. Recordings are not stored anywhere; text is read aloud with voices on the device.
- Sparse traces
Active users per month are counted without personal reference. Technical logs contain no content.
What we say openly
Anyone with access to the server can technically read around the log – this belongs in the works agreement and the data processing agreement. And what has been downloaded to a device is read there without a log; areas with a duty of proof therefore stay off the device.

How does Company Brain differ from Confluence or another wiki?
A wiki is above all a place to write. Company Brain is built to answer questions from your company's knowledge – and to reveal nothing in doing so: if a visible note links to a confidential one, the person asking learns neither its title nor its content nor that it exists. Automated tests check this with every new version, for search, chat, app and connected assistants.
Then there is where everything runs. In future Confluence will only be available as a cloud service from Atlassian: the self-hosted edition has not been sold to new customers since 30 March 2026 and reaches end of life on 28 March 2029. We operate Company Brain for you on servers in Germany, or you run it yourself – if you wish including a language model in your own network, in which case no document leaves your house. Receipts from Paperless come in with their permissions, and your knowledge stays in simple text files that belong to you.
Where Confluence is stronger: it is more mature and offers more for writing together, such as real-time editing and the Jira integration. Company Brain fits when data kept in Germany and confidential areas such as HR or management matter more than the feature set of a large wiki.
What happens when the AI makes something up?
Every answer names its sources, and under every answer it says whether the figures, amounts and dates mentioned appear in those sources. If a figure deviates, you see a note. If something is not in your documents, the assistant says so openly. A second check stage with an independent language model is being trialled.
Which AI is behind it – and where does our data go?
When we operate Company Brain for you, your data is on servers in Germany – or in your own data centre. For the language model you decide: one in your own network or a cloud model. If you allow a cloud model, it receives only the excerpts from released areas that are needed for an answer. Areas that must not leave the house never go to a cloud model – not even via connected assistants. With a cloud model, its provider processes the excerpts sent along; which provider, in which region and on which legal basis (Art. 44 et seq. GDPR) we define with you before use and record in the data processing agreement.
Can managers see who read what?
Not as a matter of course. A read log is off by default. If it is switched on through a works agreement, it is pseudonymous and time-limited, and an evaluation needs the consent of the review group. Independently of that, there is technical data such as sign-in events and the log of permission changes; which data that is and how long it is kept belongs in the works agreement.
Do our people have to learn new programs?
No. Company Brain runs in the browser and as an app on the phone, and sign-in uses the existing company account. Anyone who prefers to write in Obsidian can keep doing so.
Can we get out again if we want to switch?
Yes. Your knowledge exists as simple text files that belong to you and that any editor opens.
How far along is Company Brain?
Company Brain is in beta: all the features mentioned here are built and run in our demo on a fictional sample company. Before productive use we clarify scope, data processing and further contractual basis with you. We are happy to show you what already works.
